Dear Visitors to the United Spanish Timbrado Fanciers Web Site:
We wish to extend our deepest gratitude to our Founding President,
Mrs. Patricia Last, to acknowledge all of her tireless work and
dedication she provided all of us in the Founding of the United
Spanish Timbrado Fanciers, Inc. While we may have not seen eye
to eye on some issues and were impossible at meeting deadlines,
without her vision and insight, we would not have the foundation
which we continue to build upon today. As humans we can
sometimes lose sight of our vision or let ourselves fall victim to
unnecessary criticism but all that is necessary for us to gain
clarity of our mission is to look back from time to time to the words
she most eloquently penned in her Welcoming Message to be
reminded of the very reasons why we all began upon this Journey.
For these reasons and so many more we will be eternally grateful.
Yours in the Fancy,
Eduardo Hurtado, DVM
“Whether as breeders, striving for excellence in
producing consistently high scoring competitive birds,
or as seekers of the cheerful companion that
brightens our lives with his beautiful song, one thing
is clear: we need a united force, which has only the
best interest of this unique and wonderful variety in
mind. Especially in the United States and the Ameri-
cas, we need a venue for the respectful exchange of
information, new ideas, and the promotion of the
Spanish Timbrado. If we are to grow and thrive, we
must set aside politics and personal issues and put
the Spanish Timbrado Fancy first!”
PATRICIA LAST, USTF Founding President

Statement of Cooperation, January 7, 2013
(Revised November 11, 2013)
In order to better promote the Spanish song canary in the United States, the respective presidents of American Association of Spanish Timbrado Breeders (AASTB), Classic Spanish Timbrado Association (CTSA), and United Spanish Timbrado Fanciers (USTF) issue this statement of cooperation.
A song canary aficionado searches for beauty in birdsong. An organization for song canary breeders, such as a club, society, or federation, takes this individual search and makes it a group effort by adopting a score sheet representing a codified set of song rubrics, thus setting parameters for the search. It becomes the organization’s responsibility to educate by sharing and explaining the information contained in, and philosophy behind, the rubrics. At contests, the score sheet is used to reveal the relative song quality of the birds in relation to the rubrics.
At the time that AASTB, CTSA, and USTF were founded, there were two score sheets in wide use in Spain, that of FOE and that of FOCDE. At least in part, the different American organizations chose to follow one or the other of the two Spanish score sheets based on the various friendships that were built up with aficionados in Spain. Since that time, even more organizations and more Spanish song canary score sheets have been created in Spain, yet all of these organizations and score sheets are intended to promote Spanish song canaries.
Friendship is important among song canary aficionados. Although we have our differences in organizational structures, rules, customs, and score sheets, etc. the respective presidents of AASTB, CTSA, and USTF wish to issue a statement of friendship between our organizations and to affirm that our organizations, while remaining autonomous, will seek to cooperate, especially through the sharing of information.
